Miss A Special Showcase Singapore 2011 - Press Conference
Held at Resorts World Sentosa on the day of their showcase, Miss A turned up looking very stunning in white outfits on the day of their press conference. Miss A, consisting of members – Fei, Jia, Min and Suzy, mentioned that they have been looking forward to their special showcase in Singapore and have been rehearsing diligently for it.
Min’s and Suzy’s family also happen to be in Singapore and they revealed that after the fan sign they had previous day, Miss A, together with Min’s and Suzy’s family, had Korean food for dinner. Min also mentioned that they would like to try Singapore’s famous chili crab again if they could.
When asked about Miss A’s albums cover (made famous by a pair of legs as their logo), the girls mentioned that it is actually a design idea and none of the members legs were used. And that many of their fans would also asked them the same question. When asked who had the prettiest pair of legs, Min mentioned that Jia has very long thin legs, Fei has very athletic legs, Suzy is tall and has very girly legs while she herself have small calves but big thighs.
Proving themselves to be multi-talented idols, Miss A also revealed that they are also currently learning Chinese – from members Fei and Jia who are from China and also from a professional. They will also be singing in Mandarin when they visit China and Taiwan for their promotional activities next month. Jia also shared a funny moment regarding Min’s Chinese. She confessed that there was once, Min was hungry and she told Jia she wanted to eat McDonalds. However, the pronunciation for McDonalds is different in Mandarin and Korean and Min got it mixed up. She thought that pronunciation for McDonalds in Mandarin was the opposite of that in Korean. But Min defended herself by mentioning she knows how to say KFC in Mandarin though.
On the topic of their first full-length album, A Class, Jia chose Mr Johnny as her favourite song as she like the new experience of rapping in English although she isn’t fluent in the language. But she also mentioned that Min helped her with it. As for the rest of the members, Min chose Love Alone as her favourite song from the album as she feels that because the song is recorded fully in English, they are able to interact with a lot of overseas fans though it. Fei chose One To Ten for its rhythm despite its sad lyrics. Lastly, Suzy chose Help Me because of its girl feel to the song and it is very different from their usual strong and powerful performances.
Miss A also mentioned that winning awards is like gaining recognition from everyone for their music. Winning Song Of The Year at 2010’s MAMA (Mnet Asia Music Awards) and their first win on music programme for Bad Girl Good Girl was the most memorable experience for them as a group as they didn’t expect to win an award so soon after debuting. Winning awards also give them the motivation to rehearse and work even harder as a group.
On the topic of their 3rd visit to Singapore and their experiences with their fans here, the girls revealed that they were very happy and excited to see so many enthusiastic fans. During the fan sign held at City Square Mall the day before, Jia mentioned that she was caught off-guard when a fan cried after passing her album to her to sign. It was the first time Jia had encountered a fan crying. Min also mentioned that her fans are very bubbly and colourful and they could all feel the love and warm given to them by Say As in Singapore. Suzy also mentioned that promoting overseas and being able to see their fans and feel their warm and it makes her feel very touched to be on stage.
