Kim Sun Ah & Lee Dong Wook LIVE In Singapore – Interview with Kim Sun Ah

What do ‘My Girl’ and ‘My Name is Kim Samsoon’ have in common? Yes, you said it. It’s the new drama ‘Scent of a Woman’. The lead actor and actress of both dramas, Lee Dongwook and Kim Sunah came together this year in this 16 episode drama about life. And not just that, the two of them had come to Singapore to promote ‘Scent of a Woman’.

The two protagonists of popular Korean drama ‘Scent of a Woman’ were in Singapore, Avalon, Marina Bay Sands to be more exact on Monday, 5th December. Both Lee Dongwook and Kim Sunah were here for the exclusive Meet and Greet event where fans of the drama could see them up close and personal.

Before the Meet and Greet session with the fans, here’s the interview that SGK-Wave had with the both of them. Let’s get started first with pretty Kim Sunah.

Q: Are you aware of how huge K-pop is in Singapore?

Kim Sunah: I’ve heard of the K-pop boom in Singapore but I felt it more by being here. Actually, I do have Singaporean fans who will leave messages on my own website and webpage saying that they are big fans of mine. And it also feels like Korean dramas are more popular here, something which I’m very happy and grateful about.

Q: Can you share with us some of the interesting happenings during the filming process of the drama?

Kim Sunah: There’s actually a lot. I remembered on the first day of my filming, and coincidently the first scene, my first partner was a chicken. What made it even more memorable was that I chased it around for about three hours. And I was shooting for over a month on my own for my own scenes. It’s a pretty sad drama but the filming crew and the people I worked with made it very fun.

At this point Kim Sunah got a little emotional of which she apologised and took a short while to recompose herself. It was pretty evident that she had gotten really close to the crew throughout the whole filming process.

Kim Sunah: There’s also this secret episode between Lee Dongwook and I for the last scene. In that last scene, I was wearing this revealing blue dress for the Tango dance that we were going to shoot. Lee Dongwook saw my dress and commented asking why was it so revealing and why was I wearing that. It felt as if he was really my jealous boyfriend in real life.

Q: What should viewers look out for in the drama?

Kim Sunah: Before I recommend any episodes or scenes, I feel that everyone should complete the drama, from episode 1 to 16. I believe one can find the meaning of life through this drama because I think that it is not just a drama but something that can happen in real life too. And if I were to really recommend any scenes, it would the one where my character, Yeonjae begged the doctor to save her and Lee Dongwook’s character, Jiwook begged her to live for him.

Q: Do you relate to your character, Yeonjae with regards to the bucket list?

Kim Sunah: Everyone has their own bucket list. The only reason why we don’t do it is because we are not faced with the pressure of death. But when you’re in that situation, you will want accomplish it. Simple things like making your mother smile every day, it’s a very simple thing but people don’t do it. Perhaps, we don’t take time seriously enough.

Q: Any special moments or impression of singer Kim Junsu who had a cameo in the drama?

Kim Sunah: Prior to filming, we did a survey where most people answered saying they want to meet their favourite actor or singer before they die. That’s the main reason why we asked Kim Junsu to act in a cameo for the drama. I was the first person who heard him sang the song for the show, ‘You’re so beautiful’ live in front of me. His voice was really good and listening to him singing it gave me serious goosebumps.

Q: Your acting is very real, is there any secret to it?

Kim Sunah: Honestly, I don’t know what I’m doing why I’m acting. I don’t think about it I just transform totally, head to toes into the character I’m supposed to be. I don’t just look like the character but also feel and think like the character. I become the character completely even if it’s fictional.

The interview with Kim Sunah was really heartfelt and genuine where she answered the questions candidly. While it was a surprise to see her raw emotions flowing through, it was definitely a pleasant one. Stay tuned as we bring you the second part of the interview with cool guy Lee Dongwook.

Meanwhile, be sure to catch ‘Scent of a Woman’ every Wednesdays and Thursdays on ONE (Starhub cable channel 823) at 9.05pm (SGT).

SG K-Wave would like to thank ONE for the invitation and interview opportunity.
