Song Joong Ki 1st Asia Tour Fan Meeting in Singapore 2012 "Thrill and Love"
Gracing Singapore for the third time is Korean actor, Song Joong Ki who had successfully held his first Asia Fanmeet in Singapore. Taking place on 27th May at Shine Auditorium, the event saw many fans of various age groups as well as nationality attending.
While many actors generally shy away from singing on stage, Song Joong Ki surprised his fans when he appeared all too suddenly, singing a slow number after which he disappeared as quickly as he appeared from stage when the song ended.
After a formal introduction by the host, the man himself came up on stage again and started to greet his fans. He even showcased some of his Mandarin skills, saying things like, “I love you”, “Have you eaten”, “I’ve ate already”, “Delicious” and “Goodbye” which he jokingly teased his fans that the fanmeet has already ended. But of course, the fans were not that gullible and were laughing at his cute attempt of a joke.
After the simple greeting, Joong Ki and the host sat down for a little chit chat on stage. Many questions were asked and Joong Ki answered them both in English and Korean, joking at times even, keeping the entire mood very light hearted.
When asked about some of his previous works in both movies and dramas, Joong Ki felt so embarrassed that he said he wished for a hole that he could hide in. Nonetheless, he enjoys acting a lot and shared that his artiste dream began when he entered the university. He revealed that there were many interesting and memorable episodes while filming and one that he remembered very clearly was when he was filming Sungkyunkwan Scandal along with JYJ’s Park Yoochun, Yoo Ah-in and Park Minyoung.
He said that after he was done with his scene, a fan who was waiting around came up to him and handed him a present. She asked if he could help pass the present to Yoochun oppa instead; awkward much. He added that this always happens to him—fans asking him about Yoochun, which he agrees graciously that Yoochun is indeed very handsome and charismatic.
This little fact was proven again when Joong Ki was reading out some of the post-it that his fans had written prior to the fanmeet. One of the notes stated that she wished she could come up on stage and Joong Ki granted that wish. He invited the Korean girl who wrote it up only to realise that it was actually her mother who had done it. The mother later revealed that she wrote a couple more notes which Joong Ki picked out and read it too. One of them was a question posed to him, “Is Yoochun really very handsome?” of which Joong Ki laughed bitterly and stated that this was testament to what he had just said.
Then, it was time for games where participating fans were handpicked by Joong Ki himself. In the first game, the fans were asked to re-enact certain scenes from some of his previous works. The fans were really sporting and the winner won the chance of having a Polaroid taken with Joong Ki. Upon seeing the disappointed faces of the four others who had lost, he decided to take a group Polaroid with them too.
In the second game, 10 fans were to compete with each other in two sets of five to see who is the fastest to finish eating a bun, a candy, and blow up a balloon and burst it in between Joong Ki and themselves. Something to note was that Joong Ki actually wanted to change the rules of the game from finishing the entire bun to just taking a bite after seeing how difficult it was for his fans to finish it. This kind suggestion of his was opposed by the previous set of fans who insisted the next set finish the entire bun too. And so, that was how the second set played too. Two winners from this game each won themselves an autographed buddy pillow and also a Polaroid with Joong Ki.
A video featuring the cast of Running Man was shown on the screen next where members were giving words of encouragement and well wishes to Joong Ki. Though it has been already been one and half years since he has left Running Man, he is very heartened to know that fans are still supporting both him and Running Man.
When asked who he was closest to in Running Man, fans were quick to answer that, shouting ‘Gwangsu’ on his behalf which Joong Ki denied saying, “Who is Gwangsu? I don’t know him… He’s just the tallest man…” But later said that yes, that was indeed correct; he was the closest to Gwangsu. Joong Ki also added that he would be working with Gwangsu in a new drama later in the year.
Joong Ki sang two other songs before drawing an end to his fanmeet. And that was not before he presented gifts to some lucky fans that he had bought from a shopping mall after his jog the day before. He said that he had bought them because he found them really cute.
And when the fanmeet had really ended, fans were surprised with an announcement made by the host that there was to be a high-five session for everyone with Joong Ki. Fans were pleasantly delighted and waited patiently for their turn to meet Joong Ki up close.
Just like the title of his fanmeet suggest, Song Joong Ki had definitely thrilled and showed his love for his fans in his first fanmeet here.
