I'm not a native speaker nor a professional teacher, but I've learnt Korean for the past 2 years and I thought maybe I can share what I've learnt. I've some experience teaching some of my friends Korean, and I've always tell them that in the beginning, the most important thing is to memorise all the consonants and vowels, and learn how to speak before learning how to understand and form sentence. I stress a lot on reading and I always ensure that their ability to read is to a certain standard before I continue on with other things. In this thread, I will teach all the basics of the language, mainly on the consonants and vowels, how to form words and how to introduce yourself. As some of you already know these basics, please bear with me as there are a lot of people out there how want to learn but totally have no idea how to start.

Lesson 1 - Consonants

There are a total of 14 basic consonants and 5 double consonants. As listed below, the order of which consonant comes first is very important and should be memorised. As certain consonants have different pronunciation if they appear before or after a vowel, a " . " will be used to denote (for example, g . k means it will be pronounced as "g" if it is before a vowel, and "k" if it is after a vowel). Do note that in Korean, there are many irregular pronunciation depending on situations, the original pronunciation of the consonants should still be memorised.

Try to memorise and test yourself if you can remember the order and pronunciations of the consonants without having to look at this list! If you have any questions, please PM me instead of posting in this thread, as I'm trying to keep this thread neat, solely on my lessons.

Lesson 2 - Vowels

Unlike consonants, they do not have an order. However, there are different placements for vowels, some beside a consonant, and others under a consonant. Before we go into detail, let me introduce to you the 21 vowels that you'll have to memorise.
