RULES TO THE FANFIC SECTION Read first before posting here!

Posted 25 January 2010 - 11:38 PM
↘RULES:
1. NO PLAGIARISM
What is plagiarism?
- lifting whole sections/paragraphs/sentences from already written and posted/published sources. Changing the name does not make it a new work!!
- taking a SUPER similar plot from a book, drama, movie, comic book, and other sources of written and/or pictorial work including other fanfics and pretending you're writing something new.
- translating the work of others without permission.
YOU WILL BE WARNED IF YOU PLAGIARISE.
2. NO DISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK
This is the same as plagiarism. We have warned you.
3. NO SPAMMING
What is spamming?
- sending random PMs to other users to read your fic when they did not request for a PM.
- convo-ing in a thread about things that are not related to the fic.
(as a warning: If you post anything unrelated to the fic, we will delete the lot of your posts. Use the PM function, aim/msn/etc. instead of the fic section.)
4. NO TRANSLATING/POSTING OF FICS WITHOUT THE AUTHOR'S PERMISSION.
We call this plagiarism. You have been warned.
Rules to follow when translating/posting a fic from another language:
All TFs must have a link to the fic in its original language and a written statement that the author has given you permission. As a template, you can follow this if you want to:
It is important that you get permission from the original author before translating a fic. It is rude and unfair to the author if you don't. He or she could easily come into this forum and discover his/her fic is being translated. This applies to posting fics of other authors who may not use this forum. (e.g. You come across a very good fic on say, soompi, but the author doesn't use this forum and has no intention of using. Since not everyone uses soompi, if the author gives you permission to, you may want to post it here.) Do not post other people's fics without their permission, especially fanfics that are completed. This rule extends to books as well. If you have received permission from the original author to post his or her work, then you must state this at the beginning of your thread. You can use the same code for translated fics too.
If the original writer of a fic (translated or not) has died or cannot be reached in any way, you may not repost his or her work. We are implementing this rule to protect and respect the writer's work since he or she cannot give the consent.
5. GENERAL RULES TO MAKE THIS A BETTER PLACE
1. Try to leave insightful and/or helpful replies to a fic. Anything that we consider unsubstantial, we may regard it as spamming. This includes one-liners and/or two-liners.
2. If you have pages and pages of replies in your thread, consider editing your first post with an index, as this would save your readers a lot of time.
3. Use the REPORT button if you suspect plagiarism. There is no need to reply in that thread to bash the member about plagiarism. We will take action on that user.
4. Don't start a whole new thread unless it is absolutely necessary. That wastes resources and our time. Be nice, be considerate to other users and to the mods.

↘FAQ:
1. Are same gender fics allowed? (by burntmuffins)[size]
All same gender fics MUST be labelled as [PG-13] or [NC-17]. You must also state it at the start of your fic that if contains yaoi etc. There are many users in the forum who are younger than 17 and discretionary measures should be taken. Even for the older readers, they have a right to know what they are about to read and have a right to decide if they want to go on.
2. How do I post a fic? (by lovis89)
You click on "start a new topic". Make sure you tag your topics appropriately. If you are unsure of the rating of your fic, it's always safe to go for PG-13. If you are unsure of the type of your fic (drabble/one-shot/novel etc.), you can start by posting it as a novel and going back to edit later on.
